Verify a token before acting

Discovery and evidence · How-to and reference · Public identity reads; a resolved token page is not an endorsement or permission to trade.

Check the exact mint, identity source, authorities and holder-account limitations.

Before you start

  • The exact intended Solana mint from a source you independently trust.
  • A current network read for provider-backed facts.

Use the full mint, not just a ticker

Many assets can share a name, symbol or artwork. A token mint is not a wallet address, pool address or transaction signature. Retain base58 letter case; lowercasing can change an address.

Open /token/:mint for the exact mint. Registered assets can have platform launch records; external assets can have generic Spot profiles. Neither page presence nor a matching image establishes safety, liquidity or execution eligibility.

  1. Obtain the intended full mint independently, not from a name-only search result.
  2. Compare the full mint on the token page, source record and any external transaction review.
  3. Inspect source and launch receipt when available, then separately check the current ticket’s trading eligibility. Stop if any identity differs.

Read the actual resolution result

Malformed input, invalid mint account, not found, provider unavailable and restricted are different outcomes. An unavailable provider is not proof that a syntactically valid mint does not exist. A restricted asset remains restricted after sign-in.

A previously verified cached profile can remain visible with a stale/refresh-failed notice. Use Retry when offered and keep its freshness limitation in mind. Do not replace an unavailable mint with a similarly named token to make a trade proceed.

Read authority and holder facts with limits

Inspect program, decimals, supply, mint authority, freeze authority and relevant Token-2022 extension warnings. These facts can expose control or transfer risks but do not make an asset safe when absent. Thin liquidity and metadata failures remain independent risks.

Holder distribution is a snapshot of token accounts and owners, not a count of distinct people. Pools, programs and custody can aggregate many users; one person can use many addresses. Funded versus all accounts and unique-holder counts answer different questions.

If supply, holder scan, share or price is unavailable, leave it unavailable. A current-price valuation is not realizable proceeds or a historical price. Use Retry on a failed scan and note stale labels.
